Things For You to Do

Whether you opt to go in it or simply sit above it...theres something about the turquoise waters, white sand and refreshing breeze that has vacationers coming back year after year.  There is no limit to the vast number of things you can both see and do.  It can be the thrill of diving/snorkeling, or para sailing along Seven-Mile Beach.

Water-sports centers that focus on offering fun activities are located in convenient spots around the island (the main centers at major hotels)  Depending on the location, these may include ocean kayaks, windsurfing, Hobie cats, wave-runners, aqua hikes, water-skiing or small sailboats. Avid windsurfers rate the four miles of reef-protected shallows off East end as the best location.

Red Sail Sports offers the best value in terms of exciting activites and diving/sailing trips, one of the most popular trips they offer is to Stingray City ; a 4 hour excursion that takes you to Stingray City, where you are able to play with Cayman's massive Southern Stingrays and discover the spectacular coral and friendly fish that are found in and around the shallow reef.

It's the best for a Reason...

Theres no way around it...The Cayman Islands are a Divers ultimate mecca for a reason.  The three islands are limestone outcroppings, the peaks of a submarine mountain range called the Cayman Ridge, which extends west southwest for the Sierra Maestra range off the southeast part of Cuba to the Misteriosa Bank near Belize.  These island lack any sort of rivers or streams due to the porous nature of the limestone rock.  It is this lack of runoff which gives the surorunding Caribbean Sea exceptional visibility, often times well over 120 ft.

Between the Cayman Islands and Jamaica lies the deepest part of the Caribbean, the Cayman Trough, which is over four miles deep.  South of Cayman is the Bartlett Deep where depths of over 18.000 ft. have been recorded.  All three Islands are surrounded by healthy coral reefs which lie at the top of dramatic walls and drop-offs close to shore, this all creates ideal conditions for diving and sportfishing.
